Los Angeles native, Simone Porter is the beautiful, expressive and inspired songwriter who co-wrote “Almost Home” with Mariah Carey for Disney’s OZ: The Great & Powerful. Right around the time when she would have been enraptured by the original Wizard of Oz, she started writing poetry at the age of 5. She loved music and loved to sing. Her idol was Mariah Carey. “But it kind of took me a long time to figure it all out and decide that I would be a good songwriter,” she says. She thought that if she wasn’t super passionate about playing an instrument – she could never be a songwriter. But, creating extraordinary music was in Simone’s DNA. Her grandfather composed songs for the greatest music legends including Frank Sinatra.
